Ujong Gourmet

Project Detail

Ujong — a Malay word meaning “the tip”, “the end”, the final point of a journey. It is a fitting name for a brand rooted in Singapore’s southernmost culinary heritage, the Peranakan kitchen.

Leap was brought in to create the brand from the ground up: identity, packaging concept, bottle form, and label system for three artisanal kaya variants. The brief called for something that felt genuinely premium — not as a performance of luxury, but as a natural expression of the craft behind the product.

The wordmark pairs classical serif elegance with a quiet signature detail — a red diamond nestled within the lettering. The packaging leans dark and rich, letting the amber, gold, and olive hues of the kaya itself provide warmth and colour. Each variant — BukoKaya, SaffronKaya, and StraitsKaya — carries its own personality through a distinct script name and accent colour, while remaining unmistakably Ujong.

Heritage, distilled. Presented with care.
